I’ll be posting all further updates to this follow along over the next few weeks exclusively in the Mobile Immersion Members area, you can sign up here if you’re not already a member.
Over the last few weeks, I’ve been fascinated by the new generation of push notifications, specifically browser push notifications. I’ve been reading on forums such as Stack That Money (STM) about how other affiliates have been using them on old and new traffic sources like MGID and
For me, this is exciting. When I first started affiliate marketing about five years ago, I had huge success with the app push notifications on traffic sources such as AirPush, so the fact that they have made a resurgence is not far from music to my ears.
For those of you who don’t know what browser push notifications are, they are mobile or desktop notifications sent via the browser that appears on a device. I’ve added an example below:

One of the things that have always annoyed me about being an affiliate is that simply sending a visitor to a cost per action (CPA) offer and earning a commission if they complete it doesn’t build you an asset you can go back to again and again to generate more revenue, like say an ecom website with a massive mailing list.
In the past, I’ve tried collecting emails but have found it difficult to get good open and click through rates, but it looks like browser push notifications might be the solution I’ve been waiting for.
Deciding on which browser Push Notification service to use in order to collect subscribers
After doing some research on which service is best for collecting browser push notification subscribers, I came up with two: Push Crew and OneSignal. I settled on OneSignal.
My reasons for picking OneSignal simple:
• It looks more geared towards sending a high volume of push notifications to many subscribers
• It’s free
The downside is that they use your data and probably track your subscribers across the internet. Also, there user interface doesn’t appear to be as easy to use as Push Crews, and they don’t have as many options for creating and designing your push notifications as Push Crew. However, I believe it being free use makes up for all of these cons.
My strategy for making collecting subscribers as cheap as possible
After some playing around, I figured out that the most cost efficient way to collect subscribers is by giving them the option to receive notifications from the landing pages I use on my current active sweepstakes campaigns, which I’m running on Facebook and a few pop/redirect traffic sources. Seeing as these campaigns are already profitable, I’ll essentially be collecting subscribers for free.
Another method I will be using is the “subscribe on click” method, which is where you create sweepstakes landing page, and when your visitor clicks the final call-to-action button, it subscribes them to browser push notifications before redirecting them to a CPA offer.
This will require using the OneSignal API and some extra coding (the coding bit is where the benefit of having a dev team comes into play, but if you don’t have one you’ll have to do it yourself). I will develop this sweepstakes landing page and upload it to the Mobile Immersion Area for any of you who want to go about testing it out for yourselves.
I’ve read about other ways to collect subscribers such as adding a simple age verification page and tricking visitors to click “YES they are over 18” and keep redirecting them via
I feel the above technique is better suited for adult pop traffic while the verification page strategy could lead to you collecting
That’s all for now, I’ll be posting an update in the next 2 weeks once I’ve collected some subscribers.
